My Hero Academia Original Art Exhibition Unveils “Heroes vs. Villains” Key Visual by Kohei Horikoshi

The official website for Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia Original Art Exhibition has been updated with a brand-new key visual, showing the battle between the heroes and villains. The illustration, drawn by Horikoshi himself, was revealed alongside some exhibition details, including ticket information and special visitor benefits.

A Celebration of My Hero Academia’s Legacy

The exhibition, set to run from June 21 to August 31, 2025, at Creative Museum Tokyo, Japan, will offer fans a deep dive into the artistic journey of My Hero Academia. This special event commemorates the 10-year run of the manga, which concluded in August 2024, and showcases the evolution of Izuku Midoriya, his classmates from U.A. High School, and their battles against powerful villains.

The exhibition will feature:

  • Original sketches and manuscripts by Kohei Horikoshi
  • Video displays and storyboard showcases from Studio BONES
  • Three-dimensional exhibits recreating iconic scenes
  • Exclusive merchandise, including items featuring the newly unveiled key visual

In addition, Kohei Horikoshi also released another special illustration alongside a comment:

Over the course of nearly ten years of serialization, I eventually transitioned to digital inking, but my line work has remained analog. Since these are hand-drawn original drafts, I believe I can showcase a certain level of rawness in the exhibited works.

Additionally, the storyboards (name) and final drafts often look completely different. By displaying both, I hope visitors can see how a manga artist thinks and makes decisions during serialization—what kind of things we consider while drawing. My goal is to create an exhibition where visitors can truly experience what serialization feels like, to some extent.

If you’re interested in the behind-the-scenes aspects of My Hero Academia, I encourage you to pay close attention to the details! Even if you’re not as familiar, I hope the exhibition will be enjoyable for everyone.
