GIRLS BAND CRY anime was voted as the best original show of the year in our 2024 awards, following its previous win in Spring 2024. Toei Animation handled the animation.
The anime has a video game adaptation in production, while a 2-part compilation movie is also set to release this year.
A total of 9,503 people voted in the Best Original category, with GIRLS BAND CRY taking 20.34%. It was followed by Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture (17.63%) and Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night (17.63%). The nominees were the two best ranked original shows from each of the four seasons, and you can see the full ranking below.

Kazuo Sakai directed the anime, with Kenji Tamai as the music composer and Nari as the character designs. It was also announced that a new music video from TOGENASHI TOGEARI will premiere on March 12, while the original soundtrack from the anime will be available for digital streaming starting March 20.

The main character drops out of high school in her second year, and aims at entering a university while working alone in Tokyo.
A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn’t know what to do.
Another girl is abandoned by her parents, and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs.
This world lets us down all the time.
Nothing goes as planned.
