Director Joji Shimura
When I accepted this project, I wanted to be the biggest fan of this work myself. I aimed to capture the warmth of the restaurant’s atmosphere, making viewers feel like regular customers at the counter, immersed in the aromas and flavors. I also wanted the audience to love the characters like Atelier, Henrietta, Bivia, and Batchel. I hope you can feel that essence in the show.
Shunsuke Takeuchi (Dennis’s VA)
I’m Shunsuke Takeuchi, voicing Dennis. We have an amazing team, and while keeping things relaxed in a good way, we’re seriously committed to making this show great! I’m focusing on portraying Dennis’s broad shoulders and what it means to be truly kind. Also, the cooking scenes and fun visual effects are must-sees! Be sure to watch with an empty stomach!
Marika Tachibana (Atelier’s VA)
I’m Marika Tachibana, playing Atelier. This is my first regular anime role, and when I was surprised with the news, I was overjoyed! I put my heart into my performance, hoping people will love Atelier and this story. This anime carries a warm message—that no matter how tough things get, having people who support you can help you through. Please enjoy watching Atelier’s growth alongside Dennis’s delicious meals!
Yuki Kimikawa’s Welcome to the Outcast’s Restaurant began as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro. It got a print release in 2019 with art by Gao. It also received a received a manga adaptation by Tsumumi in 2020. Kaiten Books is publishing the manga in English, describing the story:
Dennis is one of the most popular members of the Silverwing Battalion, the world’s strongest party. So popular, in fact, that the party leader expels him from the group out of spite.
Stripped of his home, Dennis decides to start life anew following his true calling—as a chef! His life as an adventurer might be over, but his new life as a cook is just beginning. He teams up with Atelier, a young girl who has been similarly exiled from her home, and opens up a restaurant for adventurers.
He’s finally able to live out his dream, but he’ll need use of more than just his cooking skills to take care of his eclectic customers’ problems!
