Devil May Cry Teases Ton of Action in New Lyric Video Trailer Featuring “Afterlife” by Evanescence

Devil May Cry animated series has revealed a new lyric video trailer featuring a ton of action accompanied by “Afterlife” by Evanescence. The project was announced in September 2023 as “an anime series from Capcom, Studio Mir & Adi Shankar,” with Johnny Yong Bosch voicing Dante. 

“Afterlife” (an alternate version of which will appear multiple times in the animated series) was co-written by Alex Seaver of Mako and Evanescence’s Amy Lee. Co-produced by Nick Raskulinecz and Alex Seaver of Mako, the song will be released by Netflix and be available on all audio streaming services at midnight/. The soundtrack album for the series will be released on April 3, the same day as the show.

The theme song for the anime will be “Rollin” by Limp Bizkit, while you can hear Evanescence’s song below.

Devil May Cry is a popular action-adventure and hack-and-slash game franchise created by Hideki Kamiya and developed primarily by Capcom. The series follows Dante, a demon hunter with supernatural abilities, as he fights demons that threaten humanity. The animated series recently shared a sneak peek at White Rabbit, who appears to be one of the main antagonists. The voice cast includes:

  • Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante
  • Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary
  • Hoon Lee as White Rabbit
  • Kevin Conroy as VP Baines
  • Chris Coppola as Enzo

The game series originally debuted in 2001 and has since expanded to include six mainline entries:

  1. Devil May Cry (2001)
  2. Devil May Cry 2 (2003)
  3. Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening (2005)
  4. Devil May Cry 4 (2008)
  5. DmC: Devil May Cry (2013) – a reboot developed by Ninja Theory
  6. Devil May Cry 5 (2019)

In addition to the main entries, the franchise has had multiple remasters, special editions, and collections, including Devil May Cry HD Collection and enhanced re-releases of Devil May Cry 3Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, and Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition.

The series already has one anime adaptation by studio MADHOUSE, which premiered in June 2007. It has 12 episodes and focuses on Dante’s daily life as a demon hunter.
